OVERVIEW

Visit some of the most iconic film locations in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and tour the ground-breaking studio that created the visuals, costumes, and props. You will see the river that represented the lengthy Anduin, the lush park that served as the location for the Gardens of Isengard and the deep forested valley that depicted the hidden sanctuary Rivendell. Many scenes were filmed on Mount Victoria, another stop along the way. The guide, who may have been part of the film crew, will describe each locale in fascinating detail that will bring the settings to life. Even if you haven’t seen the movies, you will appreciate the natural beauty. During an immersive experience at the Wētā Workshop, you will discover how some of the most epic special effects for the “Lord of the Rings” were created. It will be an eye-opening insider’s look at the magic behind the filming.

Note: Kindly note that tour is not visiting Hobbiton. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns who are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Mobility devices cannot be accommodated on the transportation. Total distance over the day will be about 1000 steps. Terrain includes steep, unsealed paths and varying surfaces. Photos are allowed in the shop/museum area at Weta Workshop, but not in the tour space itself. In case you have any dietary request, please advise excursions team onboard 48 hours prior to the Port call. Souvenirs can be purchased from the Weta Workshop Visitor Facility.
